KOTA: : An eighteen-year-old girl, preparing for JEE and scheduled to appear at the JEE exam on Tuesday, committed suicide by hanging herself from a ventilation window in her own house in the Borekheda police station area on Monday late morning.
‘Mummy – Papa I can’t do JEE, so I suicide, I am looser, I am worst daughter, sorry mummy – papa, it is only the last option’, the deceased girl wrote in the suicide note recovered from her room.
The girl had been living with her family in their own house in Shiv Vihar Colony under the Borekheda police station area and preparing for JEE, the circle officer of the area DSP Dharmveer Singh told. She was scheduled to take the JEE exam on January 30-31, he added.
The girl committed suicide by hanging herself in her room on Monday late morning, he said. The suicide note recovered from her room suggested she was under stress from studies and found herself unable to succeed in the exam, he further said.
The deceased girl was the eldest of three sisters, and her father is a gunman at a private bank in Kota. The family basically hails from Akawdakhurd village in Jhalawar district and has been living in Kota for the last three years.
She was under severe stress due to studies in view of her scheduled JEE exam on January 30-31, and she was repeating 12th class due to low percentage last year. However, she was good at studies and devoted around 7-8 hours to preparation, the deceased girl’s cousin told media outside the mortuary on Monday late morning.
When her grandma knocked on the girl’s room door on the second floor of the house at around 10 am on Monday, she did not open it, following which grandma shouted for all members of the family, who found her hanging from a ventilation window over the gate, he said.
Notably, it is the second case of suicide by a coaching student in the coaching hub of the country Kota, which witnessed 26 cases of suicides by coaching students in 2023, the highest ever so far.
Earlier on January 23, a NEET aspirant, a resident of Moradabad district in Uttar Pradesh, preparing for NEET – UG in a coaching institute in Kota for over a year and living in a hostel room in New Rajiv Gandhi Nagar under Jawahar Nagar police station was found hanging in his hostel room; however, no suicide note was recovered from his possession.
